Federal Ministry of the Interior and Community
The tasks of the Federal Ministry of the Interior, for Construction and Community (BMI) are varied and have a high level of responsibility. The spectrum ranges from its role as guardian of the constitution and promoter of social cohesion to integration, federal sports promotion, information technology and security tasks. As the ‘Ministry of Constitutional Administration and Regional Development’, the Federal Ministry of the Interior is responsible for modernising the state and its administration. It is also responsible for core issues of our state and federal policy, such as electoral law. Our political and social coexistence is based on the free democratic basic order. It must be filled with life every day by the people on the ground. That is why volunteer work and political education have a firm place in our range of tasks. In order to compete all these tasks for the benefit of the citizens, more than 2,100 employees work in three offices in Berlin and Bonn.
